Today I want to share 'After a While' with you. It's a poem supposedly written by Veronica A. Shoffstall, which gives some beautiful advice about how to live your life. However, I say supposedly because there are a few other claims of authorship to this lovely piece of work. Including Shakespeare and Latin author Jorge Luis Borges. After all my research I found about the poem, I can't find any hard facts about the true authorship, just opinions. A friend of mine showed it to me as a piece written by Shakespeare called 'The Minstrel' but other people suggest it was a translation from Borges piece "Despues un tiempo'...
According to Wikipedia and other sources, the word passion actually comes from the Latin word 'patī' meaning to suffer. It also says that passion is a term applied to a very strong feeling about a person or thing. Passion is an intense emotion compelling feeling, enthusiasm, or desire for something. Interesting that the word stems from the meaning of suffering... This is what I want to explore a bit... Why does passion come from the word suffer and can it be 'bad' for you?
You know when you meet someone and you instantly click? Perhaps you know instinctively that you're going to get on straight away? Well this is how I felt with Carlos. Carlos is the boss of a huge company in the cooperate world here in Rio de Janeiro. He's so friendly and happy that I'm sure he has no enemies in his world whatsoever. He's got a great attitude towards life, himself and his family it's wonderful just to listen to his views. One reason I get on so well with Carlos as we often have very interesting conversations - and a few things that we spoke about today, I want to share.
Have you ever been told to just 'let go?' I remember when I was doing my Yoga Teachers Training Certificate in India, my Guru instructed us many times a day to 'let go'. It was such common practice to hear, I never really thought of its true meaning.
The term to let go is no stranger to the yoga and meditation world and it's pretty common grounds for the personal development world too - actually I think it's a term so widely used that often we forget what it really means.
Did you know it takes around 21 days to change a behaviour? And by behaviour I mean incorporating something new into your routine or taking something out. In the personal development world it's pretty hard to not have heard about 30 day challenges. Have you ever come across 30 day challenges? Many internet sites and products offer 30 day programs in a bid to improve something or change your life in some way. Actually there is a lot of sense behind this...
Everything you do is a creation, and your life is a fine work of art. Throughout all your experiences in your life, your decisions, your thoughts, ideas and creations, you contribute to the Universe. You owe it to yourself and the world to be the best version of yourself that you can be, and that’s what Evolve and Express is about; personal growth and development through self exploration, travel, creativity, art, and spiritual consciousness… It’s about human evolution on a personal level. Albert Einstein put it best when he said;

It’s the moment to dedicate your time to you. Self Improvement is everything in this world. The very best of our human race are those who have invested time into self-exploration and personal development and these are some of the greatest people who contribute to the evolution of human kind. While we are given this wonderful life from the Universe, it’s our responsibility to be the best we can be, right?
